Vine Cottage
The Grade II listed Vine Cottage is a 16th Century timber framed building located in Nedging Tye, Suffolk. Scheduled at risk on the Babergh District Council Buildings at Risk Register the timber-framed cottage lost its roof over twenty years ago and was left unoccupied. Poorly covered by non-breathable bitumous felt, water ingress and poor ventilation had led to extensive decay.
Renovation works included plinth sole plate repairs, oak frame repairs and new long straw thatch. Lime render and plaster on oak lathing was used both internally and externally, whilst new windows made to match existing patterns were installed. Several internal doors, the stairs and floorboards were repaired and retained.
